The Concord Chorus Performs Fauré’s Requiem

Now in its 73rd season, the Concord Chorus will perform Fauré’s Requiem at 8 p.m. June 1 at Cary Memorial Hall, 1605 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington.

Fauré’s beautiful and haunting Requiem will be performed in its rarely heard version for symphony orchestra. The program will also include Felix Mendelssohn’s setting Psalm 42 and stirring cantata Vom Himmel hoch.

Dr. Kevin Leong will conduct the 110-voice Concord Chorus and a professional orchestra. The concert also features two Boston-based soloists: soprano Deborah Selig and baritone Sumner Thompson.

Lexington residents who sing with the chorus include Michelle Binzel, Shaylor Lindsay, Frans Spaepen, Bakhita Thordorson and Carol Zaczkiewicz. The Concord Chorus boasts singers, ages 23 to 93, from over two dozen Massachusetts communities.
